Phone verification is a security measure for your account. When you add your phone number to your account, you will be able to withdraw your earnings.
Why do we have this? We have phone verification because you are the only person with your phone number and we want to make sure that only you are withdrawing earnings from your account. For example, if someone gets into your account using a different device and tries to take out your earnings, they will be prevented from doing so because the text will come to your phone.
When you enter a phone number for verification, you will receive a text message within a minute that will provide you with a code. You will enter the code in the app and your number will be linked to your account. However, if you accidentally enter a wrong number, you will not receive the verification code or be able to link the incorrect number to your account. So there is no need to worry that you have input the wrong number.
If you don't have a device/cell phone number, you can enter a landline number. If you don't have either, we recommend waiting to withdraw your funds. If you want your funds immediately, we do not recommend using another individual's number but that decision is up to you. Remember that a phone number may be linked to one account ONLY.
NOTE: Ibotta does not properly operate with third party voice or texting apps (e.g., Google Voice, What's App, etc). Please do not link this type of number to your account as it may not operate as designed.
