There is a difference between earning cash back through Online shopping and the Grocery and Grocery pickup & delivery categories. So we’ve compiled some popular FAQs below to help guide you.

Q: Do Grocery pickup & delivery purchases count towards Online shopping offers?
A: No. Grocery pickup and delivery purchases qualify for cash back on offers in the Grocery and Grocery pickup & delivery categories.
To redeem an Online shopping offer, go to the Online shopping category, select the retailer, and tap/click Shop next to the offer to continue shopping on the retailer's site or app.
Q: Do I need to verify anything to match offers to my purchase?
A: Not in the traditional sense! For select online retailers, start by adding desired item-specific offers to Your list by tapping the (+) next to each item. Once you’ve selected your offers, tap Shop to activate all selected item offers and any eligible sitewide offers.

Be sure to keep your confirmation email and shipping notifications until your cash back appears in your Earnings. If cash back is missing, this info helps us investigate.
Remember to look for the plus (+) sign next to the offers and add them to Your list before tapping Shop!
Q: How long does it take to get cash back for my Online shopping purchase?
A: For qualifying retailers, you'll receive cash back for your Online shopping purchase 7 days after your transaction date. Please note that some retailers have varying pending periods, which can be found on the offer page under Details. It’s also a good idea to take a look at the How to Get Cash Back section.
For our travel partners, the pending period for your offer starts once you've completed your reservation, rental, or stay. Be sure to check the offer's details for more information on the pending periods.

Q: Can I make multiple purchases from the same retailer?
A: Yes! Just be sure to start in Ibotta by tapping/clicking Shop before starting each subsequent shopping trip. From here, you'll be taken to the retailer's website or app to continue shopping. This links Ibotta with the retailer, allowing you to earn cash back on your purchase!
Q: What if my online retailer has specific item offers also?
A: Some online stores offer cash back for individual items. To take advantage of these offers, tap (+) next to each item to add it to Your list. Once you’ve selected your offers, tap Shop to activate all selected individual item offers and any eligible sitewide offers. You’ll be directed to the retailer's website to make your purchase.
You don’t need to tap Shop for each item. Cash back on eligible items and storewide purchases will be added to your earnings once the pending period is complete.
Q: Can I get online cash back for offers I see available in-store on the app?
A: No. Offers available at retailers in-store can only be redeemed when you purchase at the actual brick-and-mortar retailer. Similarly, offers found in the Online shopping category through the app, website, or browser extension are only eligible for online purchases.
Q: Do Online shopping offers have exclusions?
A: Yes. Each retailer and offer has different details regarding what is or is not valid for cash back. This can be found on the offer page Details by tapping the offer that you wish to redeem.
Q: Do Online shopping offers count towards bonuses?
A: Yes! Online shopping offers will count toward your bonuses, and any cash back will be added to your earnings once the pending period for the Online shopping offer is completed. Q: Am I able to cancel or return my Online shopping purchase?
A: Of course! Just keep in mind that if you get cash back for a purchase that you later return or cancel, that cash back and any related bonuses will be taken off your earnings (reversed).
Also, if you have a pending offer for a purchase that you decide to return or cancel, we will remove that pending offer once we get the information from the retailer. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to earn cash back on items that you didn’t actually buy.
Q: Will I get cash back for an Online shopping purchase that I did not start in Ibotta?
A: Unfortunately, no. Purchases made with an eligible retailer that do not start in the Ibotta app, website, or browser extension are not eligible for offer cash back because the link between Ibotta and the retailer is missing.
It's a good habit to always start in Ibotta to ensure you receive cash back on qualifying purchases.
Q: I'm trying to make a purchase at an Online shopping retailer, but it's not working. What's happening?
A: There might be a few things affecting your ability to complete your Online shopping purchase. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot:
- First, check if your app(s) need to be updated. If the Ibotta or retailer's app isn't up-to-date, it could cause technical difficulties. We recommend keeping both the Ibotta app and the retailer's app updated to the latest versions for the best experience.
- If you need to update your app(s), go ahead and refresh. You should then be able to start your Online shopping purchase in Ibotta again.
- If you can access the retailer's app or website but can't complete checkout, try removing the retailer's app from your device. Sometimes, having the retailer's app installed can interfere with the connection between Ibotta and the retailer's site.
