Ibotta is free to use, though we are required to assess fees to inactive (and deactivated) accounts; however, fees are drawn from your Ibotta account balance, never from your personal bank account.
Account maintenance fees are administered to accounts that have had no activity occur for over six months. This includes accounts that have been deactivated. These fees are assessed because there are costs associated with the creation and maintenance of your Ibotta account, and those costs are covered by the fees Ibotta earns when you redeem offers.
“Activity” is defined as completing a redemption of an offer and receiving cash back for the offer. “Inactivity” is defined as the duration of time since your last completed redemption. Once six months of no completed redemptions on your account pass, your account will be considered inactive. If you have a balance in your inactive account, an amount of $3.99 will be deducted from your account on a monthly basis until the account balance reaches zero.
To avoid account maintenance fee deductions, complete a redemption for any offer in the app or browser extension at least once every six months. Account maintenance fees are only deducted from an inactive Ibotta account balance - as mentioned, you will never be directly charged any fees to your personal bank account. Ibotta will attempt to notify you before the first account maintenance fee is applied by sending an email to the email address we have on file and push notification to your device. If your email is incorrect or you do not have Ibotta notifications enabled on your device, you may not receive this notification. Please make sure that we have your current information on file so that important messages will always be received. |
