A negative balance in your Ibotta account usually means that cash back applied to your earnings was reversed.
If you withdrew funds and an offer was reversed, your account balance will become negative.
Why was my offer reversed?
A reversal in your account may be due to any of the following:
- A receipt that earned cash back was determined not to meet Ibotta's receipt qualifications. Therefore, the offer cash back from the receipt was reversed.

- An item purchased for an offer that earned cash back was determined to not meet the qualifications or match the offer details. Therefore, cash back for the item was reversed.
- An Online Shopping purchase that earned % cash back was reported as returned, payment changed, exchanges made, or canceled. Therefore, cash back for the purchase was reversed.
- An offer(s) that completed a bonus was reversed, thus removing the offer(s) from the bonus count and reversing the bonus cash back.
Does a negative account balance charge my payment accounts?
No, a negative balance does not affect any connected payment accounts. You will not incur any charges to your PayPal or linked bank account.
How can I make my current earnings positive?
Redeem offers and earn cash back until your account balance reaches zero. Once your account balance reaches zero, any future cash back earned will make your current earnings positive.
